The Sign Forest

On the road to Watson Lake

The sign forest was started by one of the workers working on the building of the Alcan Highway during World War II. He put up a sign with his hometown, an arrow pointing the way and the number of miles. It caught on. There are now somewhere around 60,000.

Our caravaners looking in amazement at rows and rows of signs.

Yes, we need to put one up, also! Our leader, Jim Matkovich, made a sign for the caravan, and several others also had signs.

This was quite a ceremony!

Here they are...

WBCCI Caravan...whoops...carvan???

Rick enjoyed looking at the old machines.

Can you believe we found one from Jefferson, OH! No, don't know the people.
