Fox Lake Burn

As you've seen in so many of the pictures, there are many trees. Sometimes there are fires. Man-made and lightning strikes are the usual causes. Hard to believe this was 10 years ago.

This burn was 45,000 hectars. (Canada uses metric)

Life is returning.

This is fireweed. It is the first plant to return after a burn.

Can you see all the burned trees all over the hillside?

We have driven thru many of these burns. The burn from about 1954 (I think) was still visible. Where there is permafrost, it remains beneath the protective mosses and layers of soil.
