Day Four

Today started as bright sun and no clouds. We saw so many of these piles of hay on the farms.

On this windy day we saw at least 3 wind farms. The windmills are HUGE! Did you notice the size compared to the truck in the previous picture??

Lots of tumbleweeds and the cactus has started. So many of the dry gulches...some not so dry. This is good since there is a drought.

Watering of the crops is done by these long frames. I counted at least 15 wide/long.

Saw one cattle producer that had at least a thousand cattle contained in a very small area. We've never seen so many in such a small place!

Tonight we arrived at the Albuquerque Elks Club. Narrow spot, but we finally got in, then called Rick's cousin, Chip Price. He had heard we would arrive soon, and had prepared Aunt Ginny's cabbage rolls for dinner. Yummy! Great time had by all.

Day Three

Starting a bit late, we went to the Route 66 Museum in Clinton, OK. Great museum.

Saw several grass fires and even could smell the smoke of one of them.

Saw the long horn cattle, dry gulches and the land was flat, flat, flat...

Tried to stay at an Elks Club, but the ones there blocked access to the electric, and not really a great place. Moved on to the KOA in Amarillo, TX.

Tonite is the night I started this blog.

Day Two

After enjoying the morning and taking pictures, we headed out.

Today we encountered lots of wind. It also got so warm we needed the A/C.

Along the bumpy road we saw wind farms, casinos owned by the Indians and many oil wells.

Stayed at Foss State Park, Oklahoma. A long dam and lake were great.

Day One

Some of the sights along the road were: Daffodils, Buffalo River Nuclear Plant, Rice Patties, an Oversize Load that was and Army Tank, Tornado Damage on trees and buildings, and the rolling hills of the Ozark Mountains.

On the way into our campground, there were at least 20 whitetail deer in the road. Neat.

We stayed at the Bushy Lake State Park on the Lake. Rick accidentally released the ice cubes into the bowl we had used for Tazz's water dish...the only dish I hadn't washed yet! Ducks were swimming across the quiet water. Beautiful place.

We're on our Way

Got a late start the first day. Had to run errands and then hook up. Mark and Tazz came to Maumelle Park to see us off.
